1 Introduction

Lumova Technologies (Private) Limited ("we", "our", or "us") built SplitBook as a free expense-splitting application. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding information when you use SplitBook on your Android device.

SplitBook is designed to be privacy-first. Your expense records, group names, member names and amounts are stored on your device and are never transmitted to Lumova Technologies or shared with third parties. SplitBook does include two Google Firebase services — Analytics and Crashlytics — which send limited anonymous technical data so we can monitor stability and fix crashes. Section 2 sets out exactly what those services do and do not collect.

By using SplitBook, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2 Information We Collect

The short answer: we collect no personal information and no financial information. We do receive anonymous technical data about app performance through Firebase, described in full below.

SplitBook has no user accounts, no sign-up and no login. We hold no database of users and have no way to identify you.

Data You Enter in the App

When you use SplitBook, you may enter:

Your display name
Names of group members (friends, family, colleagues)
Expense amounts, descriptions, and dates
Payment records and split amounts
Group names and categories

All of this data is stored on your device in Android's SharedPreferences local storage. It is never sent to Lumova Technologies. We cannot see it, access it, or retrieve it under any circumstances. Please also read the note on Android system backup in Section 5.

Automatically Collected Data — Firebase Services

SplitBook uses the two Firebase services below. They collect limited anonymous technical data. No group names, expense amounts, member names, descriptions or payment records are ever included.

Firebase Analytics

SplitBook uses Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. Firebase Analytics collects:

App open events and screen views
Session duration and app engagement
Device model, Android version, and country (not precise location)
App version

Firebase Analytics does not collect group names, expense amounts, member names, or any personally identifying information.

Firebase Crashlytics

SplitBook uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically detect and report app crashes. Crashlytics collects:

Anonymous crash reports with technical stack traces
Device model and Android OS version
App version at the time of the crash

Crashlytics does not include expense records, group names, member names, or any personal data in crash reports.

ℹ️ Both Firebase services are provided by Google LLC and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. As part of standard operation, Firebase may process device-level technical identifiers such as Firebase Installation IDs, and may derive approximate country from your IP address. SplitBook does not use Firebase for advertising, remarketing or personalised advertising of any kind.

✅ Your expense and financial data is never transmitted to us. Firebase receives only anonymous technical data about app performance — never your group names, expense amounts, member names, or payment records.

3 How We Use Your Information

The information you enter is used solely by the app itself, on your device, to provide expense splitting and group management features. Lumova Technologies does not access or process it.

The anonymous technical data collected by Firebase (screen views, session counts, crash reports) is used only to fix crashes and improve stability and performance. It is never used for advertising, profiling or resale, and is never combined with any personal identifier.

4 Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent or share your personal or financial data with anyone. We do not hold it, so we have nothing to share.

The only third-party services embedded in SplitBook are Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, as described in Section 2. SplitBook does not integrate with:

Any advertising network or ad SDK
Any marketing, attribution or profiling platform
Any social media platform or login provider
Any cloud storage or account-sync service
Any analytics provider other than Firebase Analytics

Sharing summaries: SplitBook can copy a group summary, a personal summary or a single expense summary to your device's clipboard. You then paste that text yourself into WhatsApp or any other app you choose. SplitBook does not connect to WhatsApp or any messaging service, does not access your contacts or messages, and does not transmit the summary anywhere. Copying happens only when you tap it.

5 Data Storage and Security

All data entered in SplitBook is stored locally on your Android device using SharedPreferences — Android's built-in local storage. This data is:

Stored on your device, not on our servers
Protected by your device's built-in security (screen lock, and device encryption if enabled)
Not readable by other apps on your device (Android application sandboxing)

Android system backup: Android's own Auto Backup feature is active for SplitBook, as it is for most Android apps by default. This means your SplitBook data may be included in the encrypted device backup that Android keeps in your own Google account. That backup belongs to you and is not accessible to Lumova Technologies. If you prefer that no copy of your data leaves the device, you can turn this off in your device settings under Google → Backup.

⚠️ Important: SplitBook has no cloud account, no sync, and no in-app backup or restore feature. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, your groups, expenses and payment records are removed from the device. Depending on your Android backup settings, data may or may not be restored when you reinstall or switch devices — SplitBook cannot guarantee this either way. If a record matters to you, copy the summary out of the app or take a screenshot before uninstalling.

6 Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data at all times.

Delete All Data

Within SplitBook: go to Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all groups, expenses, member names and settings stored by the app on your device. This action cannot be undone.

Delete Individual Groups and Expenses

You can delete individual groups from the main Groups screen using the group menu, and individual expenses from the group screen using the expense menu.

Uninstall

Uninstalling SplitBook removes the app's locally stored data from your device. If Android Auto Backup is enabled, a copy may remain in your own Google account backup until Android expires it; you can remove that through your Google account backup settings.

Firebase Data

Anonymous technical data already processed by Firebase (crash reports and aggregate analytics) is subject to Google's retention policies. Because it carries no identifier linking it to you, it cannot be individually located or deleted on request. Uninstalling the app stops any further collection immediately.

7 Children's Privacy

SplitBook is a general-audience utility. It is not directed at children, contains no content designed to appeal to children, and requires no account, no name verification and no age information.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. We hold no user records at all.

Parents and guardians should be aware that, as described in Section 2, the Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics services included in the app do collect anonymous technical and device data, and this applies to every user regardless of age. That data contains no name, no contact details and no financial information. Uninstalling the app stops the collection immediately. If you have questions as a parent or guardian, please contact us using the details in Section 10.

8 Internet and Permissions

SplitBook requests no sensitive permissions. It does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, call logs, SMS, external storage, or any other sensitive device feature.

Permissions declared by SplitBook:

• VIBRATE — used to provide haptic feedback (subtle vibrations) when you interact with buttons and actions in the app. No data is involved.

• Network access (INTERNET and network-state permissions) — added automatically by the Google Firebase libraries so that Analytics and Crashlytics can send the anonymous technical data described in Section 2. SplitBook makes no other network requests of its own. All splitting, settlement calculation and storage works fully offline, and your expense data is never transmitted.

SplitBook contains no web browser, no in-app payment system, and no feature that transfers money.

9 Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy we will change the Effective Date shown at the top of this page. Where a change is material — for example if a future version of SplitBook adds cloud backup or account sync — we will describe it clearly here and in the app's release notes. Continued use of SplitBook after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
